Overall, the ZMAX isn’t too shabby, while the motherboard has its shortcomings; Iwill’s first enthusiast SFF solution has been a relatively good attempt. The chassis, for the most part, is excellent and aesthetically pleasing. The addition of an external SATA connector allows faster external hard drives then what 1394a and USB 2.0 has to offer. Overclocking was relatively poor with our 2.8E, which yielded better results on our IC7 MAX3. Nonetheless, the ZMAX is Iwill’s first attempt at a desktop replacement SFF and we look forward to new and improved versions in the future. Either way, the new ZMAX presents us with a different Iwill that is no longer the same company that brought us the KK266 and other excellent overclocking solutions. In place of the old Iwill is a new company that is more humble and concentrates more on practicality and attempts to cater to a more mainstream audience.
Not exactly a glowing recommendation, is it? I hope the dualie Opteron fares better.
