What was maybe 20 seconds to get to my network drives before I installed those two updates, now takes nearly 2 minutes.  And when I could see my network drives, I started copying files from my Windows box to my Apple.  But it started that quite a while ago, and with three of the four files still transferring (I think), I've got the apple spinner on my screen.  I can only go up to the top right to do anything without the spinner, and I can't get to the bluetooth functionality anymore after going to the systems preferences and trying to access Norton filesaver.  Add to all this I have an aweful cold, and I'm probably not even making any sense.

Any sort of Mac OS 10.3.4 "Task Manager" I can get to, to try and figure out what the hell my system is doing?

yeah merk, go under your applications folder, look for the utilities folder and start the app called "activity monitor".

You may need to go into your disk utilty and repair your permissons for the hdd after the updates.

Appreciate the post man.  I got out the "missing manual", and tried killing apps to no avail.  In the end, I had to hold the power button to power down the laptop.  Then I got out Norton and booted from that.  It found a ton of errors, I let it fix them all, and then ran it a 2nd time to make sure I was in good shape.  Now I'm running Speed Disk to defrag and see if it suggests anything else.  Guess I've solved the problem.

You said this happened from the itunes update ?  I updated mine with no problems, but then I do not have the Extreme airport just the regular airport so I have never downloaded the new extreme drivers.

Good Luck
