I took the advice of numerous friends and the sff tech community in relation to my previous re-occuring problem with the heat problems in my 9800xt. I have a shuttle xpc 85v2 and my graphics card would reach temperatuers of 85+ when gaming. I went into my bios and turned off "smart fan" and instead put on full. I also managed, to my surprise (i never built a computer, had a friend build this one), to fit in a vantec PCI slot fan in there... there is about a millimeter or two between that and the graphics card. With it on full blast and case on i reach 70C idle and 74C gaming. If i remove the case it drops to 65C idle and 68C gaming. I was wondering, first of all, if i buy the case for my shuttle with mesh sidings - will it keep the temperatures as if the case was off? And, taking all this to consideration, is 68C too hot? Keep in mind that the 9800xt is one hot piece of machinery, but is mine too hot?

A mesh case I would say is bound to help. I drilled out extra holes around the area of the 9800 Pro heatsink and fan and there was a noted improvement in the case temperature (it even stopped feeling hot on top!).
