If Font Book can open it (right click for two button mouse and CTRL+click for one button), it will let you install it. Simple eh? And all this time I was too much of a wuss to download ttf on my Powerbook.

Huh.  Dunno if I need that right now, but I appreciate the heads up all the same.  Have missed not keeping up with you guys as much about the Apple stuff of late.

Actually heading to Vegas on vacation three days next week, so I'll be away from computers and the forum for a while.  Since it's vacation with a pal from school, I think we're gonna leave all the PC's at home and go cold turkey.  Though I'm gonna bring my digital camera, my Zen Xtra and the iPod so we each have a music player if needed, and we'll probably end up stopping by Fry's in Vegas at some point on the trip.

BTW, I was bad tonight.  I finally bought a Logitech Dinovo combo.  A guy had one on Ebay, and I got it for under $180 shipped.  Obviously looking forward to hooking it up on my MCE box and using the "media pad" with it to display song information, etc.  But I hear you can use the mouse with OS X, and that would be sweet!

Been looking for a MP3 streamer that would fit in with my home theatre system (and can connect to a Mac). My friend has one of those Rio Sonicblue that streams MP3's via a network cable to a box that has RCA and speaker outs. You guys know what I'm talking about?

Sounds like your looking for something similar to THIS but with Mac compatibility.

To be honest, I've never heard of a Mac compatible product.  But let us know if you find one!

Very cool stuff.  The new iTunes Mac product seems amazing, but a buddy says you need Apple routers to make it function.  And that stinks, since my 802.11g network is Buffalo (PC) based stuff.  Even though I only have one Buffalo wireless network card (USB).

I will say since I bought a second Buffalo router, and set it up as simply a bridging network access point, it's worked fabulously.  The main drawback is you can't run in WPA mode with the routers in a "bridged" setup.  Got that straight from Buffalo's tech support which have been prompt and helpful every time I've called.  And I believe they have 24 / 7 service with an 800 number, which is a pleasant change from some tech support.

Overall, I'm still happy as a clam with my Powerbook.  Took it with me to Vegas last week, and watched an episode of Las Vegas on the way down, and The Transporter on the plane on the way back.  And if I had charged the battery while in Vegas, I could have easily done both with a single battery.  I seem to get about 2 hours on each with a full charge while watching movies.

BTW, while in Vegas I went to the Apple Store at the Fashion Show Mall and got the mini-dvi to S-video adapter for $19 before Apple quits carrying them.  While there, they had a clearance table with goodies like so many of their stores do, and I could have got the iVaja Red Leather Case for my 3G 15GB iPod for $29.  But I recently got the iSkin evo case from Fry's when they started carrying those in store, and it's been great.  I have the option to use it with the belt clip or without, and since cleaning up my iPod display with the Cleaner products reviewed on iPodLounge.com, it hasn't had another scratch.

Nice to see Sam on our side
I have been looking at the eMAcs for my 13yr old son.  His computer class in school uses Apples and Windows machines, but I think next year they stay pretty much on the Macs.  I would prefer him to use at home what he uses at school, so I'm gonna wait and see.

I think iMac would be allot nicer but maybe a little unneccassary for him, not sure maybe the 17" iMac wouldn't be too much more than the eMAc.

Check out this little gadget.
This should answer your problems with streaming music from your apple around the house.
Very nice indeed

Hey thanks jhu-
It is my first and only Apple.  I did the hdd replacement myself and of course upgraded the ram and installed Panther.
I call it my learning process.  I love the look of it.  Really would love to buy a 15" PB, but damn thatsa a allot of coin to play with it.

Would like to see Apple come out with an updated version of the Clamshell and the Cube.  That would be outstanding.  Maybe like a G4 1G Clamshell, with 32M ATI 9000 mobility vid, DVD/CDRW combo, USB20, Firewire, Lan, Airport Extreme, and a 12" display wit 1024x768 res.  That would be sweet

Sorry to say this MTP but I highly doubt an updated Clamshell version would be out...unless they want to further attack the 'teen' market. No offense but around here, the only Mac users I've seen with clamshells are pre-adolescent girls.

Oh come on, I'm pretty sure you knew what kind of water you would be wading in when you got yourself the clamshell

Enclosure that I bought from Newegg that I really like. I use it in Firewire mode, and it gets hot swapped back and forth between my B&W and my sb65. At this time it holds a CDRW/DVD combo drive. The B&W wont burn CDs off of it yet, because you have to do some driver diddling to make it work, which I have been to lazy to do. It works great as a CD/DVD drive however. And of course it works great on the shuttle without any problems at all. My other enclosure is one of those 30 dollars Bytecc guys, a USB 2.0 critter that houses a 40 gig Maxtor. It also works flawlessly hot swapping between my Mac and Shuttle.
