How exactly has it broken?

If it was me I'd simply glue it to the fascia so its stuck rigid. You don't actually need the button. On mine you can press anywhere along that bar where the button is and it pops open.

That wierd plasticy "S" type spring is now detached from the case so the button won't rebound out, its stuck recessed in.

Hope that makes sense as I don't have the box in front of me now.

Maybe I can glue a regular spring to it.

can u use the one from the bottom tray?  assuming that u are only using one

or u can use cd eject software. it creates an icon in the system tray, all u do is click on it and it ejects the cd, or closes it. I use it and it's awesome.
