Hi folks!

Well, it's certainly real, according to this article (via Babelfish) from PC Watch.

Any more graphics card gurus wishing to shed light on this interesting new product (and their opinions), please feel free!

Take it easy,

interesting....but I doubt that it would free up the PCI slot.

That looks almost to good to be true. Just from looking at the pics, that will fit inside a shuttle PC. But I guess a lot of people will soon question its cooling performance here on the forum. But perhaps a custom made mounting of slim zalman 80mm fans on each side undervolted may do the trick?

Is it out for sale? Possible to buy in the U.S and Europe yet? Any more details?

I wonder how it compares to the 6800gt, I see that it uses the 2.5ns samsung memory (like most of them?). Perhaps its overclockable to the same performance that of a GT but I guess that will ruin the idea of cooling it passively, right?

To bad I cant find that one without that retail package. I just want the card

Yes, the rear of the heatsink looks like it may protrude into the neighbouring PCI slot, but you may be able to get around it with a low-level card.  My 'Ultimate Edition' Radeon 9600 is also passively cooled - albeit with a smaller heatsink - and after becoming accustommed to a quiet system, would find it difficult to revert back to an actively cooled solution; certainly with Half-Life 2 seemingly around the corner, this looks like a very attractive upgrade.

Anybody in North Japan wishing to buy a Radeon 9600 Ultimate Edition?

I'm curious as to the specifications though, such as thermal output, power requirements, scale of manufacturing process etc.  I mean, I recall the days of the old GeforceFX series, laughing at the enourmous 'dust buster' fans required to cool a burning GPU - I certainly could not envisage seeing another card from nVidia that was more powerful, yet ran cool enough to operate without a fan.

Indeed, I wonder which VPU model this uses?  Are the 0.11 micron NV46 (?) chips available yet?

...I need some more information on this

Sapphire's Radeon 9600XT "Ultimate" like Jbattle has and I put in a friend's SN41G2v2B comes with RedLine overclocking utility.  You could probablyoverclock these more than actively cooled ones because they have more heatsinking.

passive + ocing = blah
while
passive + your own fans + zip ties = Muhuhuhhahhaha!!!

Price?  I'm getting it.

arctic cooling's new nv silencer 5 for 6800GT/ultra is available at newegg.  i'm just waiting for some reviews.  not sure how well it cools the memory on the card.  that definitely is a two slot solution and can't fit in a normal shuttle though .  it also spins at 2500rpm, so may not be as quiet as their x800 counterparts.

If Im going for this card in the future. I'll try to get the bulk version not retail but thats beside the point.
Anyway, I think I have thrown out this idea on like 10 different threads now, but noone seems to react on it (maybe its not feasible).
What I would do is to fanmate a zalman slim fan and make a custom fan mounting on the passive card, keep a rather noiseless solution but get enhanced cooling. Comments?

Yeah, not a bad idea, although in my opinion, the less fans spinning in my little box the better

I have one on the ICE and one inside the PSU - that's enough for me in my book; anything more is just going to contribute to vibrations and generate noise... sure, it might cool things a little, but I'm more than happy with the temperatures of my system.

Good luck on finding an OEM version - please let me know if you're successful, and if you hear any further information about the card/GPU.

I bet this card would speed throttle itself down a lot due to overheating.  6800's do have this ability, that's probably what the product depends on.
The 6800U runs really very hot, the fan is on pretty strong and not very quietly when the card is used for games.  I'm doubtful the single slot passive cooling is enough.
The 9600xt can get away with passive because the card runs cool with low power consumption, while the passive solution for the hot 9800pro requires a really massive heatsink that won't fit in shuttles at all.

Yea its questionable, but then again it doesnt sound reasonable that they would manufacture, distribute and sell a product that is doomed to burn up.

Besides a high airflow on the ICE and a mesh case might help this setup

Could also mod your case to add some holes in the case over where the heatsink would be, instead of putting another fan in the case. Thatll make more airflow over the card.

Well since the sb75g2 has mesh case per default I guess that will suffice. I'd still like some more info or tests on it before spending my dollars.

Man this sucks, I emailed the company that has this card in stock in the U.S. and they dont ship overseas to Europe. BAH. It's not available in Europe ofc.
So I guess I have to abandon that idea. What a shame, now I have to spend my money on a radeon 9800 pro 256mb card.
