Well, I guess I have recovered enough from Martha Stewart's plight that I can comment on it.  Imagine--Martha Stewart, that Great Lady, the "Doyenne of Domesticity," doing time in West Virginia!  I knew she wanted to serve her time in a tony Connecticut slammer, but this?  Oh, God, how can this be?  Well, Alderson has had some prominent inmates--Tokyo Rose, Axis Sally, Squeaky Fromme, Boogers Haddon--so why not Martha Stewart?  (What?  You've never heard of Boogers Haddon?  Well, I really didn't know her--she was a couple of grades ahead of me in grade school--but everybody called her "Boogers" because she would sit in class, pick her nose, and eat it--)  Many years later I heard somewhere that she had wound up in Alderson, for what I never found out.  Anyway, laugh at Martha, mock her all you will--she'll come out of this smelling like a rose with her proud head held high, and she'll be bigger than ever!  You just wait and see!  They'll never break her--she's tougher than all of them put together!

"How could it have happened ?"

She was convicted of crime.

My question is:  "How could it have happened to her while she is just a tiny fish in a BIG sea ?"

She was targeted not as a "criminal", but as a successful woman.  Just my opinion and gut instinct...

demon- You have been very considerate towards Martha. The very fact that you have shown restraint shows that you are a true gentleman. ....

I was being tongue-in-cheek, in case you didn't notice.

I think it was bad karma coming back to haunt her.  I never hear anything possitive about her from people around her.  It's complete negativity and I think the phrase, "you'll see the people coming back down that you stepped on to get to the top" applies here.

Do I think the charges are stupid?  Yes, but the law is the law and people are people.  You treat them like crap and you can't be suprised when they come back and treat you the same way when fate gives them a chance.

People DOG the hell out of Oprah every chance they get.  She/Pontiac gave-away a Pontiac to every member of her audience on her show and people still dogged her.

If you're successful and a Woman, you're automatically just a b****.  I've seen too-many an exception for men who are "abusive" to say otherwise...

...and come-on own-up to it.  How many of you would not mind having your Wife, Girl-Friend or Significant-Other earn way more than you ?  I'd hate to admit it but as the role of THE man, I feel that it is my responsiblity to be chief provider of the family...

what's you point? some kind of a rant??

I wouldn't. Her success is my success and vice versa, but if you do mind then get a divorce and get yourself a low-paying "not too bright" woman so that you can manipulate at your wish

Let me tell you sumthin--a woman can be successful without being a b****...

Perhaps you missed reading the first paragraph of the comment, which would make my point clear as day...

It seems that few have truely realized that.  Most people just won't admit that there is a bias.

No points for failing to get the Sabrina the Teenage Witch reference.

I'll go beat myself with a plank now.

That's a very nice sentiment Ric.

Just because she makes less than me, doesn't mean that she is "low pay" and submissive.  In fact, this very subject came up here long while ago.  You're welcome to find my comments on the matter.  I'm sure that you'll find that you're desires are in alignment with my desires.
