I didn't know if you had a backup of a backup of a backup machine that was running SATA or something

(wasn't actually expecting you too, thus the happy face, but I figured it didn't hurt asking )

A backup of a backup of a backup machine wouldn't be new enough to have serial ATA....

I tried serial ATA.  It has thin cables and.... that's about it.

it's better than IDE, because it has thin cables and is like 1% faster, but if you got the cash, SCSI is a damn lot faster.

Where'd you get 1%?  If you take otherwise identical drives and controllers, one pair being serial and the other being parallel, generally, serial will be *slower*.
