Interesting solution to the car bombing problem.  Not sure if it'll work, but he, it's worth a shot.  This will only apply for the three days prior to, and the day of the bombing.  It may or may not work, but at least it's a start.

On a side note, they ought to consider a driving ban for a good 90% of drivers in the US because they're a hazard to everyone else on the road because they can't drive.   Nyuck, nyuck.  hehe.  Ok, ok, bad joke.

But either way the driving ban does sound like a good idea on the surface.  Any of you guys have any thoughts on this?

I don't think it would go down that well.  Driving is a priviledge, however I'm sure most Iraqis consider it a right, as I'm sure people in other countries do.  If I have a legitimate reason to be on the road, such as traveling to and from work, I wouldn't be happy if I'm denied from earning a living because I don't live near where I work.

Well, I don't think this would prevent anyone from earning a living unless their job required that they drive a truck or something and if very few trucks are allowed on the road, it's a lot easier to stop a bomber if you only have a few vehicles to check.

I think it would be a bad idea.  Yes it might stop a few bombers but I think what it is more likely to do is piss off the non-terrorists.  Plus add that to causing problems with transportation during elections, it would cause more problems with the Iraqi economy as well with stopping free commerce.  Its a logical idea, but unfortunately doesnt take into consideration the human element.

Well, I've got a better idea.  You make it a national holiday.  Its the you get the day off to cast your vote day!

You should have little car traffic as no one is going to work, deliveries won't be made, etc...  and you can easily set up alot of check points to stop what few cars are dawdling around.

I read this and thought to myself, how do they know when a bombing is coming up?  I guess you meant "election"...
