Hi all,

I've been searching and posting on the forums for a while now as my shuttle nears completion and finally it has!  The spec is in my sig space; it's nothing too impressive but budget+desire for silence=less power

I have installed a 120mm 4412 papst onto the back with an 80-120mm adaptor and an NV5 on my 6800GT.  I have many mods planned but I need some help with them.

First off, apologies but no pictures for a few days as I'm not at home with my computer.  I'll try and get some up ASAP.

The first mod I'll be performing will be to try and quiet my PSU (PF40? 250W unit with 2x 40x40x20 deltas installed).  It's really noisy and I'm hoping that installing my old evercool 80x80x10mm will be a lot quieter.  The fan itself was left over from my ICE unit and seems to push more air at approx 5% than the deltas at 100%.

The big question is do I mount it internally or externally.  Does anyone know which will be the best trade off between silence and system temps?  Internally, the fan will be damped by a layer of paxmate (case cover and full back) but will definately increase system temps. This means the 120mm will need to ramp up to get rid of this heat, further increasing noise. External it will exhaust out of the case but will increase noise.  Has anyone done the internal mod and got some temps?

The system itself will be polished up (ala mekumods shuttle 41G) so it'll be shiney to the max  The only problem I see is the facia and surround, as it's plastic it'll still be dull grey.  Is there a spray/coating I can use to make it into a perfect mirror or at least chrome?  If I have the time I will polish the inside of the case as well but this isn't a priority.

Finally, the suspending question.... what is the best way to do it?  I've been thinking of using 4 short or 2 long and looped pieces of elastic to hang it below a couple of bars above.  Does anyone have pics of a successful suspension inside a 2x31/2 space without resorting to cutting?

Other planned mods:

Rear fan grill cut
Zalman 47J NB cooler install
Old P2 heatsink mounted on the ICE CPU block to improve heat dissapation
Stealthing DVD drive
Cutting NV5 exhaust to reduce size
Fully sleeving PSU in heatshrink 7 removing redundant and unused molexes
Dampning DVD drive with cut up silicone gaskets

Thanks for reading this far.....
