quote:

Rollie Hawk writes "Remember how the Mac mini was designed by Apple to steal PC customers? Now Intel wants to steal them back. Adopting a shockingly similar lunch box shape and light-weight design, Intel's upcoming Mini PC features all the sleekness and portability (physical, that is) of the Mac mini with none of the Mac benefits. Well, at least it will probably have a faster processor. Now if only someone would make a Cobalt Qube knock-off for me."

hehe.  Looks like once again Apple leads the way and brings in gobloads of competition with them.    What do you guys think of this new predicament?

This is nice looking, and I am sure performance wise it will be good. I suppose I went with a mac mini for the reason of OSX. I enjoy working on OSX, and while XP gets the job done, I wanted a change. It was worth it in my book, and I am loving it. So while the Intel Box might be good, it doesn't offer an OS that is as nice as OSX. Just my opinion.

Frankly, the Mini Mac is hardly revolutional! Good for Intel if they want a slice of the super-sff market, but plenty of us have been playing with mini-itx board for ages now!

Oh and, stebesplace is right! No matter how good it is, it'll never have OSX!

Indeed, the mini wasn't revultionary.  Furthermore intel probably has been working on this for a while,  I doubt they did this whole thing in 8 weeks suddenly after seeing the macworld keynote.
