Hi,
Do you guys think that an AGP XFX GeForce 6200 128MB gfx card will have enough power to run MCE 2005 well?
The reason I ask is that the FX5200 is awful and TV/menus in MCE2005 are jerky it performs very badly.
I would like one of the GeForce 6 series because I am really pleased with my 6600GT and need the PureVideo option.
Would you think that the 6200 would be ok? (plus its passively cooled so less noise too!)
Thanks,
1234

Try changing decoders first, because I found nVidia's DVD Decoder causes MCE menus to be jerky. Cyberlink works great.

I'm not too sure that that would help - my 6600GT runs it fine with the nvidia decoder, but when swapping the cards (FX 5200 and 6600GT with the same drivers and decoder) the general performance in MCE is just awfull.
I do not currently use the FX 5200 in the Media Center, I use my 6600GT, but want to use that for gaming and the 6200 for the Media Center - will it be up for the job?
Thanks 1234.

lol. wanna trade your 6600gt for my 6600 + a few bucks? lol. It runs just fine in my case and its awesome for gaming. Currently, I even have a stable overclock at 415/575 from 300/500. No artifacts whatsoever. But, if you're looking to downgrade that GT, the 6600 non-GT is the perfect choice. Trust me. The 6200 is super low end and the only advantage it has over any FX card is SM 3.0 and PureVideo. Otherwise, it's only marginally better than say a FX 5500.

I don't want to trade (thanks for the offer!) as I plan to keep the 6600GT for fast Athlon XP system that I would use for gaming and stick a Zalman copper flower cooler on it. (might buy a 210V or similar)
I am not looking for a 6600 either, I really just want a card for use in my Media Centre that is fast enough for running it well and that doesnt have a fan!! (and that has Pure Video)
Do you think a 6200 would do this? I have seen in reviews it kills the RADEON 9550 and FX5700LE and performs similarly to a RADEON 9700 in my Athlon XP 2400 machine - 11000 or so 3DMark2001 seems fine for a MCE computer!
Any thoughts?

if you can, go for a passively cooled 6600. it'll be better than a 6200 and probably not that much more expensive, either.

I have seen the Gigabyte passive 6600, however I'm not too sure it will fit in the case! I have a feeling the rear heatsink would get stuck on the motherboard power connector or even my 80mm CPU fan - Also I cannot find one on sale in the UK!
If you remember a few weeks ago I had trouble with my iDEQ 210P switching on, it was suggested that the 92mm SilenX fan was not cooling the PSU properly and it had cooked itself - I can tell you that the PSU works fine, I tried a new 550Watt PSU and had exactly the same problem.
Any thoughts on the 6600 in the UK and my switching on trouble?
Cheers, 1234
