Anyone here use Fink on their OS X system?  I'm testing it out today.  I can see how it's like apt-get but a not as polished.  It's the best open source repository that I've seen for the Mac so far.

guess that had me a bit confused, wonder if fink changed their focus over time.  I remember it being a port of X11 to run apps on OSX. Then apple came out with their X11 client.  I'm wondering if that caused them to shift from maintaining a X11 port to Maintaining ports of Apps.

So far, just to screw around, I've install xfree86, KDE 3.4, and some apps on a test eMac at work.  I'll be further playing around tomorrow.

Fink is great! I use it to get 'standard' Unixey stuff (the stuff thats usually bundled with linux distros these days) like GHCi and Octave. Im not so bothered about installing a full open source environment, but it is still worth its weight in gold.
