I am in utter shock and disbelief that people are capable of this.I can't comprehend why people would be cheering for the death of our soldiers "as punishment for acceptance of homosexuality." Despite what anyone thinks of our dead soldiers they should be treated with utmost respect for their sacrifice. I support Governor Quinn's proposal for a 300 foot buffer zone for all military funerals. And to Fred Phelps, I have only this to say: Get a life!

The 'church' is almost entirely the pastor's immediate family and as far as I know is not recognized by the national Baptist denominations. He's more or less a lunatic.

21 gun salute, live rounds, aim a little low. Works for me. I know I could pay a high price for the freedom I defend, but what some people do with that freedom sickens me.

And to Fred Phelps, I have only this to say: Get a life! We had another thread earlier on this and the message is the same: These people are scum. There is no defense for this. None. These hate filled people should be held in nothing but contempt for this inexecusable behavior. I would second that for military funerals but would also like it for military hostpitals as well. The last thing a recovering soldier needs is anyone from either side yelling at them from accross the street or their famlies going in to visit them.

I have a friend who works at a VA hospital and while she hasn't experienced such jeering, I completely see the point and agree that it isn't right.
Just like the crowds who flocked to airports to "greet" soldiers returning from Vietnam and spitting at them and/or throwing things at them.
One of my friends who served in Vietnam had this happen to him upon returning to the States. Talk about the ultimate injustice.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with the politics behind the military, soldiers deserve respect. Malaise should never be wished upon them.
