wow, that is really deep. I only got about half way through the article before giving up.

I am not surprised by some of the sales issues. I would not be surprised to see Ford or Dodge in a similiar articel in the near future.
All of the big car manufactures do just that. Make really big cars and trucks.  Unless you look at the small 2WD trucks not one of Fords 4x4 Trucks or SUVs has a CITY mpg in the mid 20s. Most barely even make it into the 20's for HWY mpg.

I own a large SUV, but because I have a large family. It is time the car manufacturers and Amercia as a whole come to realize bigger is not always better.
I know a ton of single guys who own large SUVs as a status symbol. Wrong answer.

However, this story did bring to light something I really never thought of, and that was the retirement program for their employees is rolled in part to every car/truck sold by them. I really never thought of it I suppose.

I have always been slightly baffled by how a dealership stays in business anyway.  I mean how many new cars do people really buy every day and more importantly why??

Daimler-Chrysler is actually in better financial shape than Ford or GM. You can thank Lee Iacocca and Kirk Keorkian for that.

As I read it, former CEOs' deals with the UAW are the biggest cause of GMs problems.  That and no one buys their cars.
