I've just built a new computer with a Shuttle AV11, Celeron 500, 256 SDRAM, WIN98SE and the v4.36 4in1. The board has 2 ISA slots. When I use any one card I have in either of the slots...no problem. When I fill both ISA slots, the computer fails after logging the drives. It doesn't matter what cards and in which order they are installed. When both slots are filled, the computer will not proceed to the "DMI Pool" section. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Don

What are those cards?
Perhaps, it´s a conflict problem. Many old ISA cards heve jumpers to set their IRQs and DMA channels if needed. You could also try to change some IRQ assingments in the BIOS. Many ISA cards need their own IRQ to be set to "legacy ISA" with some BIOSes. What mobo do you have?
resetting ESCD Data in BIOS could also help to solve this...

One of the isa slots is probably shared with the last pci slot so you may have to do some fancy irq shuffling to get them to work as well as checking the jumpers on each card.Make sure in bios you have delayed transaction and memory hole 15m-16m enabled which will also help,CC

Thanks guys.

The mobo is a Shuttle Spacewalker AV11 v 3.0. The cards are a SB Awe 32 and an Ansel NE-2000 network adapter. The net-card is software configurable and the sound card is jumpered.

I've jacked with the irq's in the bios and set them to legacy ISA. I've also enabled the memory hole and delayed transaction. I haven't yet tried resetting the ESCD but at this point, I think I'll bite it and see if I can find a pci network adapter that will still accept a bnc coax cable. I've enjoyed about as much of this as I can stand :-)
