but it is now not such an unknown quantity - the idead of mATX power rigs.

there are ever more enthusiast mATX cases, and huge interest from people wanting to squeeze as much power as possible into them.

hopefully it won't be too long..............

Is the recommended K9NGM2 motherboard available yet?  I haven't been able to find it.

Cheers,

Hmmm.... that's still 2 weeks out from now.  I'm in the US, so it'll take even longer to get.  To top it off, if I did the conversion correct, that's $118 USD before tax (if applicable) and shipping.  A little steep.

first run of any board on a new technology is always high and plus that's just one random reseller in the UK, don't know if they're usually high or usually low or what you know?

conversion of UK prices to US is never pretty, it will be a lot cheaper in the US.

Well I couldn't wait any longer, so decided to go with the Asus M2NPV-VM board.  At least it has a DVI port.

Whats the GUT opinion on the Gigabyte Socket AM2 mATX Mainboard GA-M51GM-S2G  ?   I have never owned a Gigabyte but hear good things about the company.   Any ideas about this one?
(nevermind..  It doesn't fit the Bill...  )

Boy on NewEgg they are beating up the ASUS M2NPV-VM Micro ATX  motherboard... read the reviews..  It's either very picky with RAM or unusually Junky for an ASUS...

Yeah..That DVI was the killer...although, if like most, you get a REAL video card, then it's a really not a deal breaker..

Looking for a mATX AM2 board myself. The 2 recommended are top of my list.

I did stumble across this though but i couldn't find much info

EDIT - Board model - DFI RS690-M2/G

AM2, DDR II, R μATX, S690+SB600
Int. X700 Graphics core,
4 SATA-II, 2 IEEE1394, 8 USB2.0
GbE LAN, 8CH Audio
IEEE1394, DVI, HDTV-Out/HDMI

The Infinity lineup is pretty straightforward but there are a few notable models such as the Infinity RS690-M2/G. It will use the upcoming ATI RS690 coupled with the SB600. The upcoming RS690 will feature a Radeon X700 derived graphics core and offer HDMI video output. There’s no mention of HDCP compliance on the board though.

The HDMI is what caught my eye.

Can anyone comment on the K9NGM2 and the C51PV-M2/G abilities with HDCP?

Ok.. So are we at Three Boards?   1.  MSI K9NGM2   2.  Asus M2NPV-VM   3.  DFI-C51PVM2/G
Of those..  and using Newegg as the barometer ...  The Asus is available, but the user reviews are scathing...   I cannot Find the DFI or the MSI anywhere (and I am sure the DFI is gonna cost$$)
Plus I am a bit concerned with one of the ASUS reviews said the Video would output to DVI OR VGA but not both at the same time..  Thats not good...
So we area bit stuck a few days before AMD Price drops with no good Motherboard??

Thanks

The Asus has HD Audio?

I really hope you can use both video outputs at the same time, but somehow I doubt it.  Can anyone confirm / deny this?

it's about $115, but stuff's usually more expensive in Europe and the conversion always inflates it some too.

Soundmax isn't necisarily HD audio, that's just what Analog Devices calls ther drivers/control panel thing.

Does anyone know anything about the ATi chipset, the Radeon Xpress 1150? The RS485/RS485C and SB600 combo. In particular for HTPC use?

Here are a few boards not mentioned on the first few posts but again info is thin on the ground

http://www.ati.com/buy/promotions/radeonxpressmobo/1500am2.html

Sapphire PE - AM2RS485M: No info on Sapphire site. ATi page claims (6ch)High Def audio, SPDIF out and TV out
DFi - Infinity RS485-M2-G: Again no info on manufacturers site. ATi page claims SPDIF, TV Out and 8ch High Def audio

This also gives a break down of upcoming ATi based boards
