I went with the Asus M2NPV-VM MB...  Against the problematic reviews of the folks on NewEgg...     So Far it is Rock Solid...  (It's only been a Week though and I just started to OC' a bit..we shall see..)..  But as for Earlier Concers about the DVI and Analog Vid output at the same time.. No Problems at all...  Both work and the Nvida Desktop managers see's both monitors right away and gets it working...
I think the Big issue with this board is the RAM...  I put  the Corair Heat Sink Package DDR2-800 Chips in it (2 X512) and have had no issues...  Oh..This is my First time with DDR ram so I was surprised to see the Color Coded DIMM SLots and needing to install one in one bank and one in another bank to get the DDR action...  (I thin kthis was right..)

Attached is a Pic of my Rig...   Silvery...  ;-)

DFI RS690 AM2 board:
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33645
Doesn't look bad at all...should kick nVidia's 6150 design because it's X700 speed and has an HDMI port (hopefully means HDCP-compliant).

Now if we only had a quiet low-profile AM2 CPU cooler that fits in a Microfly...

The DFI RS690 board looks like being a winner.

Here is some more info:

DFI Infinity RS690-M2/G

AM2, DDR II, R μATX, S690+SB600
Int. X700 Graphics core,
4 SATA-II, 2 IEEE1394, 8 USB2.0
GbE LAN, 8CH Audio
IEEE1394, DVI, HDTV-Out/HDMI

http://www.foxpc.cz/download/DFI_DMB_Roadmap_060428_V6.4.4.ppt (Page 6 lists the DFI Infinity RS690-M2/G)

There is no info on the DFI website re this board though. The above power point doc states production in September.

REMF: I noticed you didn't say "quiet" like what I want ;-)  Doesn't the Zalman 8000 work in the Silverstone?  If so, it should be ok for you then...

Just some real quick info...

The DFI board looks great, if and when it's released and has OC options galore.

I originally went with an Asus M2NPV-VM (6150/430), and while it was rock solid, it offered very little OC'ing options.  A BIOS fix might of been in the works but I was impatient, so moved on to a Biostar 6100 AM2 (6100/410).  This board is also rock solid and has very complete and thorough OC'ing settings.  Limited by my 533 RAM, on the stock cooler I took a AM2 Sempron 3000+ which is 1.6GHz, to 2.32GHz at stock voltage and without breaking a sweat, idles at 31c.

I was set on getting a readily available Gigabyte's GA-M51GM-S2G motherboard to put in a Silverstone TJ08 case.  That was until the news of AMD buying out ATi.

Have others thought that the XPRESS 1150 chipset, e.g. MSI K9AGM, might turn out to be a more suitable option?  Or, as it was designed before the buyout it hasn't received any inside collaboration between AMD and ATi so won't have any advantage over other chipsets?

Something I'm finding difficult to locate on manufacturers websites is supported RAM voltages of mATX motherboards.  I know the overclocking potential is low/none, but would like to be able to achieve tight RAM timings if paying a premium for PC6400 modules, that often quote 2.0-2.2 voltage range to achieve quoted timings.

Are there even any rumours about a nForce5 MATX motherboard yet?

or are manufacturers content with reusing the old skool nforce4's

hopefully someone will make a decent SLI AM2 board eventually.

I notice that several of the features I like are "optional" for that board; e.g. gigabit, FireWire. All currently available parts were designed before the buyout. As for the future, I have no idea how tight the AMD-ATI link will be, whether it will lead to synergy, or whether it will estrange nVidia.

I think EVGA might be our only hope in this regard.

I was just doing some googling, and I found the Foxconn motherboard (nForce5 C51G MATX) but then I realised that it was Socket 939 and not AM2. Plus its only the graphics one, not SLI.

Baby Steps at least.

I was just browsing over on NewEgg, and I ran across the  PC CHIPS A33G board.

SiS 761 GX North
SiS 965L South
2 DDR2 slots
1 - PCI-express x16
1 - PCI-express x1
2 - PCI 32 bit
1 - CNR slot (whatever that is)
2 - SATA 1.5
SiS Mirage1 onboard graphics
Realtek ALC655 audio, 6 channels
10/100 LAN
4 - USB on back panel
4 - additional USB ports
No FireWire
board size 9.6 x 8.0" (that's weird)

One of the reviewers mentions a lack of Linux drivers. I don't know if that is for the graphics, or for the chipset in general.

SO, it's an underwhelming board, but the thing that caught my interest is the price. It's currently $46.99 at New Egg. That's way cheap.
