I am trying to identify cdr's using cdridentifier program and that's what it tells me. Why and where do I get a newest version?

If you wanna see what you have and get the latest Adaptec ASPI drivers you can get them from my site.  ASPI Drivers

Should fix your problem

Oh, there are three files.  One checks your version.  Then the other two are the actual drivers.  If you can't install the 1021's at first you will need to install the 1019 first and restart.  You can then install the 1021's.

Thanks Penguin. 1019 works. What's the difference between 1019 and 1021?

P.S. Now that I can identify my cdr's, what's the difference between short strategy and long strategy?

The 1021's are just the latest release.  The only reason I put the 1019's there is because the 1021's won't install without them.  The why you need these is because some programs require them (as you found out) to locate your CD-RW, and other CD-ROM drives.  CloneCD is an example of a program that requires no ASPI drivers, while CDex does require them...  It all depends on how the programs are written and whether or not the author needs them or not.

Is there any problem installing it in Windows XP?  The version check shows v1.0 with date 4/23/01 though...
