These Screenshots showed up on digg, and they have not been verified as authentic as far as I know.

What do you think? I'm hoping to purchase a mac sporting 10.5 and install vista sometime next year.
Second gen intel-macs, full hardware support for windows, and 64-bit core2 duo, ect.
Should be fun.

But I digress, do these screenshots reveal anything?

I am kinda in agreement with ars on this one.
If they where close to real I bet Apple legal buzzards would have shut it down by now.

I would like to see 10.5 hit, but also I am more interested in the next true Apple tower and what processor it holds (Conroe??).

If all holds true I could have a very nice birthday present in November Smiley

He admited they were fake, just wanted to see peoples reactions to his ideas.

I do like the dream of running windows programs nativly on the desktop.  but that opens up a lot of paint for viruses and spyware id assume which i dont want.

Thats probably a good point llama.
Given the ability to run x86 on OSX, stopping exploits could become problematic.
I suppose it also raises the question of if you have spyware running in virtual desktop, does it comprmise the other desktops?

Thanks for clarifying the validity of these shots too.

MTP - I'm curious more for leopard, although the new tower macs ought to be fun to see, I think the quad-core powermac really did not receive the attention it deserved from both apple and the media. Intel switch completely (and rightfully I suppose) overshadowed it.

Overall I am drawn to every single intel-mac offering thus far; the macmini, iMac, Macbook and macbookpro.
I could definitally find a place for each around the house Smiley

Virtualised OSes have a virtual filesystem that is in reality a single file within the host OS.  They cannot see the host file system, although often some provision for a shared folder is made, allowing sharing of files between systems.  Other mounted drives can usually be read by both OSes, providing they both understand the file system.  Of course, Windows cannot read or write HFS+ and MacOS cannot write NTFS.  So, that in itself provides a large level of protection.

Paul et. al.,
On the subject of virtualisation, does Parallels allow access to specific video drivers or is a general video driver provided to the guest OS by the host OS?  The reason I ask is that I'd be interested to know if M$ DirectX games can be run in Parallels or do they really need to be run in M$ natively (via Boot Camp).  Of course, I'd also be interested to know the performance overhead from running in Parallels which I expect would only be noticable (if at all due to Intel Virtualisation Technology) if the game was CPU intensive.

no such luck shagbag.

Paralles uses its own video driver for the XP install. (You don't need to install any drivers for the virtual machine from what I understand)

No (or very light) gaming*.
