Ok, so i can't really explain what's going on, but now both fan headers on my 200t have died (header 1 went first, then 2 yesterday).
The strange thing, however, is that using my multimeter header 1 gives out 12 volts, but as soon as a fan is attached this drops to about 4 (ie not enough to power a fan).
Now, header 2 does also give out 12 volts, and can power a fan, but reducing the speed to 0% (all controls done through speedfan) still puts out a voltage of 11 volts!!!  This header up until yesterday was working properly mind!!

Has this happened to anyone else, and what do you suggest, if anything at all!

Cheers

try uninstalling speedfan and all other temp/fan monitoring software and then shutting down the system and clearing the CMOS and see if that helps at all.  It may, it may not.

Well, several of us 200N users have experienced the same sort of problem where the headers just die.
My assumption is that we were setting the fans to 100% when they are supposed to normally run at 56%, so the fan headers couldn't take the extra stress due to lame engineering on Biostar's end and flaked out.
Just my theory...

cheers for those points - i don't think it's a software problem, more likely an engineering fault!

This has happened to my 200p recently as well. Thought it was a plague or something, but a little after having it and installed the speedfan software from the orginal driver disk that came with it, the CPU fan 3 pin died, and now the back case fan has died, well not fully, sometimes it comes on. Anyway, please let me know how it goes with getting a replacement board from Biostar.

My 200p's cpu fan header just died the other day.  Does anyone know of a cheap fan controller that will fit in the 3.5 bay and work with these computers.  Or just something cause i have the fan connected straight to the power supply so its getting the full 12v and it is just way too loud.

ha ha, yea I had to do the same for the cpu fan, sounded like a jet. I got this one and it worked fine.

I am calling Biostar today to see if I can buy a replacment motherboard for the 200p, I just wish there was some way of knowing if the n1 board would fit and if I could buy that board. Last time I called they wanted to troubleshoot my fan not working, there's nothing more to say, the three pin connecter died. I'll post if I get anything done.

Oachalon, I spoke with Biostar today and apparently the "good" staff was there today because I got an answer pretty quick about replacing the motherboard. I purchased a new N1 board to replace in the 200p. The only difference I see on the board is that the n1 does NOT have the digital audio in/out on the back or front and the firewire port on the back and front. Which is just weird why they make *NEW* boards with *LESS* features. I know it's supposed to a budget sff, but honestly they can't just keep the little things, I understand the digital in/out but the firewire is kind of annoying. Anyway, the reason I want this upgrade is for one this 200p has given me nothing but issues and the n1 has the same socket to take my cpu, and the option to upgrade to a better pci express video card. So a newer chipset, option of SATA 3gb/s, over average onboard video, and the PCI express. I will probably end up upgrading the PSU to the 250 as well. $90 for the replacement mobo from biostar. I'll keep you posted.

Swapped the n1 motherboard in the 200p case, and I'm using the onboard until my 7600gt card gets here next week, an athlon 64 3700 with 2gb's of RAM. I am using the 250 PSU, and I will be upgrading the hard drive as well to a 3gb/s. Running on the onboard it's running great, definetly can tell a difference in the speed. I also modded the side panel to hold a 80mm fan right behind the hard drive to pull air out, I'm wondering if it would make any difference to make it pull cool air in, since every fan is pushing out. Anyway, I will post my 3dmark scores along with temps at full and idle just for reference.
