I have this problem that has really been bugging me.

I have a new computer with the Asus A7V133-C motherboard,
along with the new AMD XP1600+ processor and a Abit AGP Siluro GF2-400MX. I experience a trouble in Windows2000/XP. After 5-10 minutes the screen suddenly "freezes" and the computer doesn't react to any imput. In WinXP I get a bluescreen and a message that says that the device driver is stuck in an infinite loop, caused by the nv4.disp (if i remember right)

I dont experience  this trouble during gameplay - only in windows. There is specially one situation where the system hangs up: When I try to download a file from Internett, and the "Save As"-dialog appear, the system always freezes.

The funny think is that the system is perfectly stabile when lower the speed to 1050 MHz.

I have tried:
* Latest BIOS (1007),
* Latest detonator videodrivers from Nvidia.
* Both Win2000 and WinXP
* 4in1 4.36 drivers,
* Latest AGP-drivers from VIA
I've also tried fresh WinXP with no other drivers.

I read somewhere that the trouble will be fixed inn a up-and-coming patch/driver from VIA.

Can anyone confirm this?
Anyone who has experienced the same situation and has a solution?

That had really made my X-mas a happy one :-)

Thank you and best regards,

I have an ASUS A7V133 (BIOS 1007) and I used to have the same problems with my GeForce2 MX.
This is what I did to solve it:
- First, reinstall Windows XP.

- Install 23.10 Detonators (I said 23.10, not 23.11 or 21.83 or anything like that, just get 23.10 from www.guru3d.com)

- If it´s not stable enough, install 4.36 4-in-1s, the first release, not the latest.

- Make sure with WPCREDIT that Rx55 is set to Hex: 09, Bin: 00001001

- And I have my FSB set to 132MHz, but i did that to solve another issue i had with my video card. I have noticed that for some reason ASUS BIOSes tend to overclock AGP, PCI and ISA buses and DMA channels when using JumperFree mode and setting it´s FSB to 133MHz. AGP runs at 68MHz, PCI at 34MHz, ISA to 9MHz and DMA to 5MHz. I guess my GeForce board is picky when it comes to it´s bus speed, it wouldn´t even display anything during the POST (guess afterwards).
