The V300B is a real PITA to work on - hardly any room inside and every sub assembly is riveted in place so it does not come apart at all.
Overall, I am disappointed with the internal design - not very well thought out in my opinion. It looks really impressive, but other than that it is a real challenge to work on. Lian-Li should have left out the 3 1/2 bay or made it detachable, as any video card longer than 8” will not fit (X1800XT, X1900XT, 7900GTX). Hard to believe that the V300B is the same size as the QMICRA - which is a breeze to work on.
In order to fit my 7900GTX cards it was necessary to cut away a small section of the drive cage (see pictures above). Next I found that I could not slide in the motherboard tray with the SLI bridge connector installed. There is not even enough room to slip the SLI bridge connector through from the side! I had to cut out part of the hard drive cage to allow me to drop the SLI connector on from the inside top rear after sliding in the motherboard tray 3/4 of the way. (see pictures below)
After eyeballing the space between the CPU and PSU - I may be able to fit a Silverstone NT06 CPU cooler with my slim Nexus 120mm fan but it’s going to be very tight!

After modding the hard drive cage - I was finally able to install the SLI bridge connector!

System configuration: Lian Li V300B Case Processor AMD Athlon X2 4800+ Motherboard eVGA 131-K8-NF44-AX Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI mATX Memory 4 x 512MB Samsung PC3200 CL3 Hard Drive 1 x Samsung SP1614C SATA Graphics Card NVIDIA GEFORCE 7900 GTX Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Power Supply Enermax Liberty 620W CPU Cooler Thermaltake BlueOrb II Fans (2) 80x80x25 Coolermaster Silent LED, (1) 80x80x15 Lian Li Testing notes: Speedfan 4.28 software was utiliuzed to monitor the CPU and HDD temperatures with a room temperature of 78F. Noise readings were taken with an Extech Sound Level Monitor approximately 12 inches away from the front of the case at an angle with background noise below recordable range of 30db.
Load tests were conducted with two instances of Prime95 running to put 100% load on the processor for 20 minutes and looping Futuremark 06 Canyon flight for 20 minutes to stress the GPU.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v246/dworley/V300B/Temps.jpg

Great pics Dworley. Nice Dremel action going on there . The larger vidcards not fitting is a major minus. Otherwise you probably (almost) never would be confronted with the cramped space to work in you mentioned. Harddisks, optical drives and mobo slide in and out. In the looks department, the black version of this case has the disadvantage (imho of course) that the drive cage and fan holders show very obtrusive through the grill. I'm curious how see this, since you are "Mr. Black" himself Are you gonna try to fit the NT06 (with or without fan) inside? Man, I can't wait to read your shoot-out!

Is it for another review you're doing? I sure could use a little shootout with, let's see... a Sugo with NT06, a Q-micra, this Lian Li, and well an SN95G5 or an SN25P (until Conroe configurations can be tested, I am not even remotely interested in an Intel config in the comparison)
While I am making requests, I did appreciate the photo comparing the size of the Lian Li with the SN95G5. Could we get more of these in the hypothetical shootout?

The "hypothetical" shootout is covering the cooling performance and noise levels for several mATX SFF cube cases running SLI: Lian-Li V300B, Silverstone SG01-E, Ultra Micro Fly and PC Design Labs QMICRA. I am using the same components in each system as a baseline, then testing with different CPU coolers to find the optimum results for each system when possible.

I like the zalman 9500 but for some reason, I would much prefer the artic cooling 64 pro, that thing is even more of a monster than the zalman! but too bad the pipes stick out from the top and wouldn't fit even in the qmicra.

Dworley, nice insight to the Lian-Li, same it's not what y'were expecting. Still, what d'you think in terms of watercooling? Enough space if not so large CPU coolers are used? It does look good, just a tad too big for my liking. Good stuff! - D'you review for a living or wha?

He reviews for fun like I do. In fact, Dworely is probably more knowledgable then I am on SFFs and his opinion matters to me more than most peoples He did the Qmicra review on SFFTech if that gives you an idea of what he is up to! If you are looking for a case around that price the SG01 is probably your best bet... I think Dworley agrees with this.

since he couldn't even work on the system with the motherboard in, I'd think that their isn't enough room to put watercooling in there

Actually i do think there is room for watercooling aslong as you dont used one optical drive and the floppy bay. Some slight dremeling on the caddy to remove enough of it to get a rad in there will fit. Though im not sure if there is a 120.2 rad out there that will fit in the width of the case, but dual 80mm or single 120 can def fit in there. If you are lucky maybe 2 120mm rads with the barbs being above or below could fit in the width but youd have to be able to find somewhere to mount the pump.
I looked into watercooling this case and it def is possible, though would be tricky to tinker with afterwards

It is possible to watercool this case, but there are limitations. First, as far as I know, you can only fit one 240 radiator made by Magicool. This is because you are limited by the width of the case and the space between the header and the modified drive bay. Second, you can not have a GPU longer than the MoBo. Third, you need to remove the 3.5 slot in the drive bay. But it is possible. (note: photos were taken during tubing mockup stage, I finished this 300v a few months ago)

Here is another example of this case watercooled (by Ashtefere). All Cooling tubes are on one side, the data cables and graphics card (fits a 8800GTX) are alone on their side which is nice and allows seperate heat compartments. One Dual 120mm Rad at the front and an extra 120mm Rad on the back. (Also houses 3 HD's in the existing bay with a little modding) Drive bay needs to be painted Black. 3d view of Case: 3d view of Case (with lights): Close up of RHS (cooling side) with Lights on: Close up of LHS (Sata Cables plus GFX Card):
