Just got a shiney new Dell 2900 series server delivered.  Specs are:

1 Xeon 5130 processor (Dual Core2, 4MB cache, 2.0Ghz, 1333Mhz FSB)
2GB DDR2
5 Serial Attached SCSI (RAID 5)
ect ect

Point is, I get to run FAH on it for a few days to burn it in.  Started up both cores at about 5:20pm PST on 7/27/2006 and it's the only box I have folding right now.  We'll see what she can do:)

Well, dude it's not a laptop.  In fact the monstrostity has so many fans in it to keep it cool that I think one could perform wind tunnel testing with it.  Anyway, I'm not a big Dell fan either, but I have never had any serious problems with their servers (just lots of minor ones).  Dell or not, I'm just excited to play with a Core2.

So far it looks like the proc is averaging about 350 points/day between the two cores.  Given that the best I managed to get out of the previous generation Xeon at 3.0ghz for two cores was about 250 points/day, I would say the new ones do have the horsepower advertised.  Now all I need is a Core2Duo laptop:)
