Hi!
i buyed some days ago an ideq 330p but there are big stability problem(the system hang in about 1 minutes) maybe the problem is the Power suplly(i've change ram and video card but the problem still remain)
The question is:
there are psu replacement instead of the enhance enp-3130 installed by default in the ideq?(it's impossible to buy it in italy...)

Thx to all!

Hi, Chri! Welcome to the forums.

Can you tell us the rest of your system parts? Video card, CD drive, hard drive, etcetera - that will help figure out the problem.

Are you overclocking the cpu at all?

PSU replacements in these boxes are tricky.

Hi! thank you!
the system are:

amd64 3700+ san diego core
2x512mb corsair Twinx Xms CL2
Evga 7600gs

I've tried if it was a problem caused by RAM or video card changing them but it was not.
I'm not overclocking the system...i'ms sure about 90% that the problem is the power supply...but it's a problem to replace him

Well... if you can lay your hands on a separate power supply you could just hook it up from next to the case for testing. That would at least eliminate the suspect.

Oh, I had another thought: Perhaps the heatsink and fan on the CPU are not attached solidly, and it is overheating...?  You could always try removing the heatsink, cleaning the heatsink goo off, and re-installing it.

the cpu temp is about 28°C...the heatsink is ok...the problem to test the psu is the connector...is no a 20 or 24 pin standard connector...is a biostar mod...12pin for the main connector and two of 4pin connector 12v....one for cpu rail and the other one for the pic express rail.
Why the biostar do that....WHYY!!!!?! :S

Ouch! How frustrating.

I let it simmer in my brain overnight, and can't come up with anything else useful. Random hangs and crashes CAN be attributed to the power supply - I've had a rash of them around here lately, myself.

Are you doing anything stressful when it crashes? Or just sitting at the desktop? Perhaps it's a software issue. Are you running Windows?

Go out and find a bootable Linux CD and crank that up, see if it crashes with a totally different operating system...

Power supplies in my experience are things that you don't want to mess with inside. Maybe someone else has more insight into that.

Maybe it's time to talk to the person who sold you the machine.

I have a 330P and the power supply is by far the noisiest component, with its whining and clicking.
It's enough to drive a man nuts.

Chricchio, why don't you take a look at the voltages and temperatures in the BIOS and report back to us.

OK...on monday(because i out from italy until monday morning) i post the voltage value.
Take a look to the official response from biostar technical suppor:

-----------
Dear Sir

The BIOS on your system need to update to the latest version.
Then there will be no problem for you to install OS.

Here is the latest BIOS we have for 330P system.
(See attached file: Nbd0117.bfs)

with best regards

Steven

------------

What do you think about?? a default asnwer(like...put the cable on the machine...push the button.. ecc..ec..) or some tested incompatibility with some of my components(like sandiego cpu core for example)
And...another question:
How can i update the bios without floppy disk???

Many thx to all Smiley

Hm. It sounds possible. Depends on what the bug fixes in that bios were, and it doesn't look like he sent any documents with it.

Do you know anyone with a USB floppy drive? Maybe you could borrow one and use it.  Or a  USB flash key?

That's a very good question, though.  Send it to their tech support Wink

glad you've solved your trouble, too.

I've just found your topic and, since i had an experience like yours, i decided to share my findings with you.

I' ve bought an ideq 330P last december, with the following configuration:

AMD X2 3800+
2 * 1GB Corsair Value DDR 400 ( was trying to avoid compatibility issues, but didn't want to pay the money for XMSs )
GF 7800 GT

well since the first WinXP installation I've suffered from randomic hangs during every type of workload, ( surfing web, plaing games, burning DVD)
I've never been able to reproduce those hangs, even if i tried to repeat the exact same tasks

after various memory tests, components disabling, driver installations, etc, etc

i've found in a forum an hint about the same problem in a configuration like mine ( not an SFF)
AMD X2
Nforce 4
GF 7800 GT

the poster said that by disabling USB 2.0 support in BIOS ( reverting back to 1.1 support only ) he resolved his trouble
that's what i did and i can say that ( by sacrificing support for USB 2.0 devices, which btw i don't own ) i've never had a single problem in the last 8 months

don't know if it can be applied to your case too, but i felt like posting it in a thread with this name could provide help for other / future owners of this SFF
