Last time I sent them mobo and ram, because they saied it has to be ram. After tests they saw it wasnt ram, mobo turns off and on all the time. So they sent me replacement. Serial number is only 3 numbershigher, so It might be all lot damaged. not sure. Anyway, tried other cd, cdrom, ram, nothing - all the same.

That seriously does suck big time, I recon you should get em to test the mobo before shipping, cos this is all avoidable bs on their part and mostly on your part as you are the customer.  Bloody greif, I know how u feel m8 Sad

This is unbelievable! Second week without computer, I feel depressed, I think i'm gonna go tomorrow to town and buy any mobo that supports core2duo and ask them to give me my money back. Maybe in the future i will buy some better mobo, but now even mobo based on via would be enough, i dont know...

hey i'm new to the forums, and looking forward to building my sugo

@phinix, blue screens during installation are RAM problems unfortunately
have you tried changing your ram sticks for generic ones?
also try setting your ram timings to the default, some motherboards can't handle 4-4-4-12 (i'm just assuming you are using your corsair sticks)

I'm thinking it's a ram problem also.

Actually, I'm thinking it is probably a SATA cable fault based mainly on the fact that you're seeing many very different BSOD messages. Change the cable to the HDD (and the CD if that is SATA too), you may be pleasantly surprised. I had similar issues myself at the weekend (My first BSOD for at least two years!). I've witnessed so many faults (friends machines, my own, and many forum threads) caused by quite possibly the cheapest component in a PC these days that it just isn't funny any more. How is it that SATA cables can be so sucky (and there is never any sign of physical damage)!

Get yourself a new cable and try it for $5, it could be one of the cheapest fixes known to man.

Here's hoping for ya!

Well, fisrt time I rma'd this mobo with ram, they checked ram and said that is ok. I think it might be hdd or cpu. Sata cable was used in previous rig, so i dont think it is a cable, but I'll check it.

Thank you all for advises, I'll try everything and write back if anything changes...

Mine had been good since I first put the box together (That was when C2D was first released...September?). It was during the last piece of work (moving the disks around) that it started to go wrong. I think we're all too used to bomb proof IDE cables.

The old adage, 'when you've ruled out everything else whatever is left, no matter how unlikely, must the the answer' is something to bare in mind here.
What exactly have you not swapped out for different items?
Are you using the same install dvd? Check it for scratches. Check the cables.
By the sound of it you've swapped out nearly the entire PC at some point, so the fault must be with the bits that are left (Or you are extremely unlucky.)
Take a few minutes to write down exactly the combinations of kit that have produced the same error, so you can keep track of the things you haven't tried. If you don't, its easy to miss something you haven't tried yet.
Stay on top of it, you will crack it eventually. Remember, computers might be good at chess, but they're no match for you at kickboxing!

Did you try the cable as well?

Also worth running the Samsung hutil diagnostics. That showed up my cable fault. Sometimes the diag tool wouldn't even load without crashing. Other times the HDD wasn't detected, other times it showed tons of errors.

As Jester said...

1. Be methodical
2. Change only one part at a time...if possible
3. Test components in another situation of possible

sorry phinix, I haven't read the whole thread but see you are in trouble.

have you gone "back to basics"?

ie: use onboard video (it might be that 8800 you have), one stick of ram (if it allows it), one hard drive, one optical

or even try a linux live CD like the latest Ubuntu 6.10?

just narrow down the search systematically.

have you tried switching your ram out or trying one stick?
the cables and other problems are all rare, and from reading the last few posts it seems your reluctant to switch out your ram since they probably are expensive

download memtest+ v1.70 and boot into it and test your ram at least 2-3 passes
if they pass then in your bios just allow the bios to figure out your ram timings
and try the install again
check cd/dvd for scratches and allow it to run
if you are still getting BSODs then try different ram
obviously i'm not troubleshooting your computer in person, but i assume you've tried everything else (ie switching to a new motherboard, new HD, new dvd etc, etc)

hope you get this working
OH and adding to the rare hardware problems that might be happening try using a different power supply (but try the ram first)

and if you like to try a linux LIVE cd i would suggest the newest version of the knoppix CD/DVD

as a reference and i'll share my embarassing story
i recently got ocz platinum xtc rev.2 ddr2-800 2gb kit and the timings are 4-4-4-15
so in the bios i set the timings up and just went straight to install=BSODs
then i loaded bios defaults and tested the ram with memtest=everything passed (timings were 5-6-6-15 by default)
then i installed again=everything stable
now i go back to bios and change the timings back to 4-4-4-15 (they were at 5-6-6-15 by default) and ran memtest=189 errors failed
one last thing to try (cause i just plain forgot) set voltage in bios from 1.9 (default) to 2.0 (rated on ocz website) and set timings to 4-4-4-15 again=passed!

everything is stable on my workstation so just keep at it Wink

C2D E6400
motherboard is MSI P965 platinum
power supply is Antec Neo HE550W

GUYS!!! Thank you all for help and concern- I managed to find the problem!!! IT WAS F*** RAM !!! I don't believe it!!! I never suspected ram, because SCAN computers sent it back after first rma and said that they tested it and was fine! After triying new mobo, cpu, hdd, cdrom, other installation cd I discovered that one of the modules is faulty. I couldnt install the system. When I changed the module everything went great! system is running smooth and sexy:)
Today I'm giving only one stick to courier, I'm not gonna send all stuff again to scan. Maybe they have good prices for components, but their techs are ... well... Wink
So now I have all my system running, only with 1GB of ram, but when they send me back the replacement I will enjoy Oblivion in full glory - on this weekend:))))
So thanks again, maybe you dont know but it is so great when I could come back on this forum and saw that all you guys knew what I felt and you tried to support me in this horrible time.
I feel so relief now:D
