Today small package came, by courtesy of my wife:) GPU water block, G80 ramsinks kit, some 10/8 hose, silver sata and ide cables. This block is sweet.. Here is the little one... This 8/10 hose is thin enough and huge inside enough to push sleeved cable inside... That's how its gonna look... New update? Soon.. soon.... Lot of work lately.. again... my 4 days off coming up this weekend. I hope I'll get some time to work on my case... P.S. - anyone know how to get rid of that signs on the hose? without making it smoked;)

another shopping here... I found sunbeam PSU modding kit - one that has PSU ATX power cable tool - pretty hard to find. ALso got nice black 120mm grills for rad fans, some double termal tape for graphix ramsinks just in case the original fall off and some strange 8/6mm tubing for modded cable cover. These are great, there is no other kit that has ATX cable tool - with this one I will not loose warranty modding PSU!

Small update: I finished that rear of the "dvd pocket", drilled holes to mount it to base panel. Tried the pocket with light-up red acrylic under it and draw holes to drill... Mounted grills on the radiator Found that I had to bend one of the fins in left grill cause it was touching dvd cover too much... Then mounted radiator and dvd next to it. Here is a little udjusted picture just to show how it will glow under dvd... well - even more than that:) Also got second radiator 1x120mm (that's from Hugh)- it will be mounted on the PSU with 90 degree angled barbs.

yay for scratches! that's for being cheap so maybe you've said, what colour scheme are you gonna look for with the water? i've always found clear water to be really attractive, especially in a clear acrylic case with all that orange and red etc (or is it just red )

Go back few pages - blood red coolant.

... I had a thought - maybe it would be nice if I covered the whole cube with black aluminium panels? First cover it with full red acrylic like planned at the beggining and then cover with alu black panels - cut out some shapes in alu so everything inside could be seen by red acrylic under alu panels.... hmmmm..... Its just now when we decorated our room and I bought a new desk, all that red clear acrylic doesnt actually match with all the surroundings... (I was affraid to say it out loud here, but even had thoughts about changing red color to orange - it would be soo cool - orange acrylic and black anodised aluminium...)

Hello again... It is not an update, just wanted to show how all the stuff looks on main bottom panel. I had to sell my Sugo case so here's what I called "hardware migration":) Sugo on the left, cube on the right... Sugo apart.. Mobo on cube... ...and the whole stuff...

Well, after a while since I moved all stuff to main cube structure I noticed a small issue, what forces me to move dvd back on top... As you can see on top of dvd there is hdd laying on it - in the future there supposed to be drive cage. Unfotunately dvd cannot work properly - aluminium cover is too thin to keep the shape of the whole dvd and hdd is pushing it down so hard that I cannot even get dvd disc out of the drive! its pressing so much that eject engine cannot move the dics out. Also getting ocasionally scratching sounds from inside when dvd is spinning. So bottom of line - dvd is going back up.. but there is small upgrade that I'm gonna use as soon as I save some money. Dvd will sit in a special slim external USB dvd cover !!! (wooooow:)) YES - sth like this: So - it will be powered by USB and there won't be any data cable necessary! SO no more IDE cable and no more power cable for dvd! I will route the usb cable out side and that's it! OR - I will make some kind of USB converter so I could use one of those internal USB conectors on mobo! hmmm..... Something to look into... So, again - dvd on top... sorry..... . and here's the thought - may be I should use translucent red plexi???

I'm sitting at work and thinking... I'm going to use red leds to light up inside of the cube... That red plexi looks nice only on sketchup picture, when really gonna use it, it will actually not be that nice, it will mix with the inside lights and won't look like a frame... Using solid red won't be that nice either... I think black plexi would be great - dark smoked transparent acrylic - it would make a great contrast, it would show all the lines of the cube, actual front - panel - frame would be more visible... hmmm.... Red acrylic would be great if I would cover whole sides with it - then I wouldn't need to use red leds, just white ones. My front panel idea is different - to cover cube, but still show some small windows to see what's inside and light them up from inside with red light. That means front and side panels should be darker, to contrst the whole idea, to "extract" that shape, not blend in with all insides. Red panel would like kinda blended with that rive cage which is already red - you wouldn't be able to see front panel and cage separately - they both would look like one piece.. kinda... I think this is the way I need to go from now on... Imagine balck panels with those cut-out spaces showing all guts covered with red light coming from leds (or small CCL)....
What do you guys think? I try to make sketchup of that idea...

Here's how black panel would look like.. well... sketchup doesn't show real life view, but you can imagine how coult it look like... Side panels are still in progress, still working on them so they are not final versions... FRONT RIGHT

The way you describe it, I'll put a vote in for translucent black with red lighting...

Quite a job dude. I went through this thread like I'd go through a book. I had a lot of fun reading your documentary Mr. Phinix. LOL One little comment/question though: Are you gonna be using regular IDE cables for some reason or is that just a part of the interim setup? GL ;-)

GL ;-) Thanks, I'm glad you injoyed it:) Well, at the beggining I thought I will have to use IDE cause wanetd to use slim laptop drive with that IDE adapter, but now I found cheap SATA adapter and that slim dvd case with USB connection so it looks like I'm not gonna use it anymore. I haven't decided which one I'm gonna use - USB or SATA. USB has main advantage - no power cable - just one USB connected to mobo. Disadvantage - need to mod cable for internal connection...

Although it be really cool to have but one wire, after a long and tumultuous cerebration, I'd probably run the connection that would favor performance. LOL (I am assuming that USB is slower. Is that even right? The latest USB speeds are getting up there though. I remember reading an article that talked about up to 400MB/sec for new USBs that I think Intel is working on and AMD was complaining about not being able to get their hands on the schematics.)
