Anyone else having this problem? I'll put my Macbook to sleep and it will wake itself up in 10 seconds. This is really pissing me off. I've deleted com.apple.powermanagement.plist and com.apple.systemuiserver.plist. I've reset the SMC and cleared the PRAM. All with no dice. There are no USB devices hooked up. I do have an Apple wireless keyboard and mouse, but this happens even if I turn off bluetooth and airport. Any thoughts? Everything I've tried so far has come from Apple's support forums. I'm running 10.4.9 with all of the latest updates. I think I recall this starting after installing the battery firmware update but I can't be certain on that.

Go back to the store and demand a new macbook pro.

Fontaine is probably closest to the best course of action: is it still under warranty?  I would contact apple directly they might well replace it.

Hmmm.  Suspend to RAM.  Your hunch about updates may prove correct.  APIC is controlled by the kernel.  There may be an vulnerability, ooops - I mean bug, in one of the kernel module updates.  You might want to look through the list of what was updated and see if there were any changes to the kernel modules.  You should be able to unload modules individually to test if they're causing the Suspend to RAM problems you're experiencing.

Alternatively, do as everyone else has said - take it back to the shop.

This is my original MacBook I bought last May. I figured out if I put it to sleep with the Apple menu it will stay asleep. For some reason, it wakes up on it's own if I use the command-option-eject keyboard shortcut. Just because I posted about the new MacBook Pros doesn't mean I bought one Wink I'll keep searching...

Yea I know but I know you want 1 badly Wink

Anyways 1 of the good things about Apple is that when you sell you mac you get good money for it so a new macbook pro wouldn't be that expensive perhaps after selling your macbook (when its working ok again).

It cost allot to buy 1 but really its not more expensive (maybe even cheaper and Apple laptops are ok price wise) because it keeps its value much much better.

I am still waiting for a powermac ''mini''...
