seems that dworleys gts when installed had to have the case dremeled and the mounting bracket thing just behind the heatsink looks to be 2mm away from the end of the case whereas the flush one is a good 4mm i personally don't care what the picture details say about it being taken with a camera i don't believe he did it

unfortunately, i returned the thing to circuit city - i bought from there specifically for the return policy. If you guys think I was just doing something wrong and can do this without cutting into the case support, I am willing to "repurchase" it, as I really want a faster video card and EVGA has an awesome "step-up" program that would let me get the 8900/9800 when it comes out. The card is even $20 cheapers this week and I have a 30 coupon so it would only cost me $220 to get it. However, I'm hesitant to keep buying and returning merchandise (I returned the video card and a $200 powerline adapter recently because I couldnt get a stable connection). I don't want to get "blacklisted" or anything for returning too much merchandise.
My main opposition to dremeling the support is I don't want to have to purchase a dremmel tool, as those can easily run $100... if im spending that much money I would rather just upgrade to a p chassis, you know? Eventually, I would probably dremel the case cover anyway, but I wasnt going to do that until I was sure my 240W psu could handle the card in my system with stability.

with the front support off, whats holding that card in place besides the pci slot? I think when i do this i will try to keep some of the cards bracket instead of completely removing it.

I have dremelled the bracket to fit the G5 chasis as well, it was done a few days after i finished the mod, so it is held in very tight and is not loose. Maybe i should post some pics and finally reveal a UTUBE video of putting the case cover on and off to put to those skeptics to rest.

He has wasted a lot of people's time including mine reading through this thread. Alot of people waited on his promises to share info. If you are happy to have gone through this thread wondering if he did a mod or a "great Photoshop" then you have too much time on your hands and perhaps would be more interested in an Adobe forum. Sudhian has been a great resource, yet I found myself wasting much time on this thread without my knowledge until I get to the end - with a 'I know and you don't so ha ha' childish set of postings when many members have clearly been promised and asked for info many times. See members Dworley and PCBuilder postings on the same mods which are a fine example of quality use of this forum and sharing this type of info (whether you agree with their info or not).Forums are all about sharing knowledge and info. Thats what this forum is for right? If everyone did what this guy has done, waste so much time and so many posts for personal ego, then this forum would become a joke and would lose its integrity. Call me what you like, but forums are a great way to share knowledge without censorship in this great free world (well in some parts). Time wasting and blowing your ego can be done on less reputable forums. Thankfully this is not one of them.

Seriously you have wasted more people't time by bumping it to the start again. I have seen there posting's I read them when they started to do them so I know what your talking about. An yes the OP in the end was a bit cocky about it but im not sure that makes them a Jerk. Yes it is a free forum and speach is free, however Respect or lack of it can be both gained and lost with ease.

It's irrelevant how long ago it was posted, people are still reading, replying and it still comes up in searches. I certainly felt he was a jerk after I read the thread ..... and I think its fair to say that if its fair for him to offer info to members and not give it. We were given the run around. As members we deserve better and deserve respect. "...you can wait for a custrom title now" - all because he agreed with me, then irrelevant comments about 'custom titles' and lectures on respect. Keep to the topic and try not to abuse Mod 'status' or let it go to your head (these do not make good Mods if any other Mods or the managers of this forum are reading this). How about closing the thread (and be mature enough to realise that you dont need to get one last word in). Lets drop the irrelevant banter and time wasting, mae friends and agree to disagree - agreed? (no response will do). BACK ON THE TOPIC - SOME USEFUL INFO IF YOU HAVE FOUND THIS THREAD: This thread is of Zero value. If anyone else wants to waste more time - read the initial post and the pages that follow and you will see where I am coming from. The info never came! This thread should be closed for now.
Do everyone a favor and do not post further on this thread - read this quality thread instead on the same topic and mod: http://www.sudhian.com/index.php?/forums/viewthread/95915/P75/

Lets drop the irrelevant banter and time wasting, mae friends and agree to disagree - agreed? (no response will do). The you can wait for your custom title now, was sarcasm as I know he's been waiting a long time, if you read further on you can see that I said I would talk to the person who handle's them to see if I could speed it up for him. I have known hugh for a long time and it was just some banter between the two of us as far as im concerned. An I expect you to reply to this thread so it would't be me getting the last work in just yet. Im not saying im a good mod or a bad one. I'll leave that up to others to decide not me. Personally I don't believe in calling anyone a 'jerk' hence why I picked up on it, and pointed it out. If you had just said the topic was rubbish etc then yes I agree with you but calling someone a jerk is uncalled for as far as im concerned. BACK ON THE TOPIC - SOME USEFUL INFO IF YOU HAVE FOUND THIS THREAD: This thread is of Zero value. I suppose you want the thread moved to the trash bin aswell? Im not going to close the thread as it 'could' be a useful resource to some people, for example they could find your link below ;-P I have already read the thread that you linked to, if you look you will see the last post was by me and was made before this one. Ok it was'nt very detailed but it was meant to help the person who replied to that thread a little after the previous post. You yourself could of done everyone a favour by not posting the comment about the OP being a Jerk, I for one would't of read this thread again, for a start. An I would of commented the same as I did if I was or was'nt a Mod. That does'nt affect my opinion and it never will. tino

Save yourself some time and do everyone a favor and do not post further on this thread (don't even bother reading it imo, there is no actual info in the end) - read this quality thread instead on the same topic and mod:

I really didn't think people were very interested in this thread anymore because of the 8800GT single slot. While I did not expect such varastity towards the "magic", and since there are people who keep dropping by this thread, lets get down to business. Pic1: You can see the 8800GTS with a dremeled frame down the back of the video card. Also, you can view the modded dual slot back plate for the card to fit into the shuttle. Pic2: Getting the cover on: Here you can see the video card is not seated into the PCI_E slot, more on this in a minute. Pic3: Use a "wrapping" of the case cover from the video card side and the cover will snap into place over the video card, snuggly. Pic4: To get the front edge into place, use a bit of a tilt from the back edge to the front and the front edge will line up. This is easy because the video card is not seated yet. Pic5: With the side edge in place, lift the back to line up the front corner so that the front edge of the case will be ready to slide into place. Now, press down on the video card and your bottom edge of the case and video card will snap into its snuggy place. Pic6: Here's a front view at this point (I am still holding the back edge up-cover is not bent). Since you have readied the top front by lifting the rear a bit, the front is lined up and ready to go. At this point, the other side of the case will come together as you close the gaps and seat all the edges. Pic7: And Wahlah! Now for the question of how to you get that video card out of there? Use a paper clip to press the unlock lever through the venting holes. Taking the cover off is reverse of on at this point. Just remember: if you go with a flush mod like this, take your time with a dremel and keep your measurements as close to spec as possible-even undercutting edges to make sure you don't cut to big, it will make the mod look fantastic. Another benfit is that the case becomes extremely tamper resistant with the case cover locked down with the video card locked in place. It would take a while for anyone to figure out how to get in and you would likely notice.

Vow! A fantastic long-awaited guide. The mod sure looks great and it may come in handy at some time.
Well done! But a shame that we had to wait so long for the magician to tell how it was/is done!

I think I've waited almost a month between updates... ;-)
Although I can see why everyone wants details here. It's something a lot of Shuttle owners are interested in. My guess is that although it looks good, it may actually be an incredible pain to remove the cover with those tight tolerances. If it were me, I'd likely have to drop the card in, at the same time I put the cover on... Ta da! I quoted myself, because that's pretty much what he did... Do I get cookie?

Good dog, craigbru!
Yes, putting it on and off looks like a real pain. But once the xpc is configured to the full, there will be no need to do anything about it until it's cleaning time, right?
