Corsair Gets Lit With New Pro-Series Memory
Title Gradient

Corsair has been known for years a premium memory supplier of quality memory modules which satisfy even the most aggressive overclockers and gamers among us.  Recently they’ve gone a step further with their new ProSeries XMS Memory establishing the new high end for DDR performance at 500MHz while adding activity-driven LEDs which will most likely soon become the latest craze in case-modding.

Today we?ll be testing a pair of Corsair TwinX 512MB PC4000PRO modules, with a special look at how these modules perform within SFF systems.  Let?s start with some specifications:

Corsair TWINX1024-4000PRO

·         2 x 512MB PC4000 XMS ProSeries DDR Modules
·         Memory Bus Speed: 2x250 MHz (DDR500)
·         CAS Latency: 3 Cycles
·         RAS Precharge: 4 Cycles
·         RAS-to-CAS Delay: 4 Cycles
·         RAS Active to Precharge: 8 Cycles
·         Command Rate: 1T (1 Cycle)
·         Voltage: 2.75V
·         Physical Measurements: 1.75?(H) x 5.41?(W) x 0.30?(D)
·         Weight: 2.9 oz

The first thing you?ll notice is that these modules are fast.  DDR500 is currently the top-of-the-line in memory performance.  These modules were basically designed to work with the latest Intel 865/875 chipsets which allow for extreme overclocking via FSB adjustments.  You may also notice the modules are spec?ed to run with a CAS (Column Access Strobe) latency of 3, which implies that Corsair will probably follow up with a PC4000LL release in a few months at CAS2.5 or even CAS2.  Rumor has it these modules will actually run with much more aggressive speeds.  Will they?  Let?s find out?
