A few months ago we took a look at Logitech?s mid range 2.1 speaker system the Z3. While the Z3 produced decent sound for the price, it lacked what gamers wanted; surround sound. As more games are implementing support for surround sound, it is a logical choice to invest in a surround sound speaker system. A few years ago, Logitech had a winner with their Z560 speaker system. The Z560?s were a pseudo 4.1 speaker system that had a large 8? subwoofer made by Tang Band speakers that was effectively 188 watts. Logitech had a winner with the Z560?s and served as their flagship till they released the 5.1 equipped Z680?s. The Z680?s was equipped with a Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS decoder, which made the system carry an MSRP of $399.99. While the Z680?s covered the high end, Logitech had nothing to offer for those seeking 5.1 in the midrange. To remedy the situation, Logitech released the Z-5300?s, a midrange 5.1 speaker system that was to take place of the Z-560?s with an MSRP of $199.99. While the Z-560 is still listed on Logitech?s site, they?re nowhere to be found at retailers, whether it be bricks and mortar or online. Just in time for Doom 3 and the back to school season, we’ll be taking a look at the new midrange Z-5300’s. next > Page 1 of 1 pages for this article Search
