Ever since AMD announced their plans for a 64-bit processor, the need for a 64-bit OS (from Microsoft) has been discussed as an integral factor AMD would need in order for the chip to be successful.  Two years after Opteron, and nearly 18 months later than expected, we now have such an operating system....

So how many of you care?  For those of you who already own an Athlon 64, will you be reinstalling the 64-bit version anytime soon?  Has this OS release convinced any fencepost-sitters to finally jump?  And just for fun, have Intel’s 600 series or Smithfield products convinced anyone to invest in them for 64-bit capability and / or dual core performance?
